Winter's Calling Card

Icy blast of rain
Carried on a northern wind
The tree limbs laid bare

  1. Neat poem. It paints so succinctly the visual image that is winter. I have a love/hate relationship with winter. I grew up in northwest Montana and snowy days of childhood linger in my mind. I used to go coasting with my kids until they got too old to want Mom to come along. The same with my grandkids. Some nights when it has snowed and the wind is blessedly absent, I love to go for a walk. But I hate the winter wind, driving on icy/snowy roads and being cold.

    1. Illinois was similar, but like you my relationship is also love/hate. But I do love those walks.
